Barry Oland founded Oland & Co. in 1981 and the focus of the firm since inception has been on maritime and transportation law. The firm primarily acts for marine insurers, the Government of Canada and suppliers in the marine industry.

Leona Baxter joined the firm in 2010, became a partner in 2014 and a named partner in 2017.
